Vikki Robinson MBACP
Welcome, thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
Taking the first step to seek out support can seem overwhelming, wondering which counsellor or type of counselling will suit you and the difficulties you have been trying to manage on your own. It's important to take time to get a feel for the counsellor you choose to work with, if after reading my profile you have questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch, I will be happy to arrange some time to give you a call, to discuss further how I maybe able to help support you through this difficult time.
The main modality and foundation of my practice is person centred approach, this places you at the centre of the work, as we as individuals are experts on ourselves, we know what hurts, we know how life and relationships have impacted us. I offer a safe non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, to help you to take back control of your life, by empowering you to believe in you.
I find for some clients that using an integrative approach using different tools and techniques can be beneficial, as we are all different and counselling is not one size fits all, just as we all learn differently, we all process events in our lives and our thoughts and feelings in our own way. I also offer CBT counselling, which is goal focussed and looks at changing dysfunctional thoughts and behaviours, that can be causing difficulties.

Person Centred Therapy
Is a form of psychotherapy developed by psychologist Carl Rogers beginning in the 1940s and extending into the 1980s. Person-centered therapy seeks to facilitate a client's self-actualizing tendency, "an inbuilt proclivity toward growth and fulfillment", via acceptance (unconditional positive regard), therapist congruence (genuineness), and empathic understanding.
CBT Counselling
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy explores how our thoughts and feelings (cognitive), affect how we respond to certain events or triggers (behaviour). It identifies patterns of negative automatic thoughts (NATs) that we experience, and with different tools and techniques, we can learn to challenge them, enabling us to to react or respond to the triggers or events in healthier ways.
"When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mold you, it feels damn good. . . . When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on. It is astonishing how elements which seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens. How confusions which seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard." ~ Carl Rogers

That's ok, coming to counselling shouldn't have to be daunting or another stressful task to add to your already hectic schedule.
